With just one loss in 2024 and the biggest trophy of the year so far locked away with her name on it, Aryna Sabalenka is the favorite heading into the Dubai Open. Paying 3.00 (2/1), the Belarusian is ever so slightly ahead of Iga Swiatek, who pays 3.25 (9/4) to win in the UAE. Behind these two, both Coco Gauff and Elena Rybakina are also strong betting options, paying 5.00 (4/1) and 6.50 (11/2), respectively. From here, however, the odds drop significantly, with Qinwen Zheng way back at 19.00 (181/). Read on for our free tips for Dubai Open 2024 tennis.

Dubai Tennis Championships 2024: Tournament Preview

For 32 years now, the WTA Tour has been heading to Dubai in the first quarter of the year for the Dubai Open. Played alternatively as a WTA 1000 and WTA 500 event, this year, it’s a WTA 1000 event. With back-to-back WTA 1000 events taking place in the Middle East after the Qatar Open last week, this is a significant period in the women’s tennis calendar.

Here’s how the Dubai Open has unfolded over the past five years of play:

  • 2019 — Belinda Bencic defeated Petra Kvitova
  • 2020 — Simona Halep defeated Elena Rybakina
  • 2021 — Garbine Muguruza defeated Barbora Krejcikova
  • 2022 — Jelena Ostapenko defeated Veronika Kudermetova
  • 2023 — Barbora Krejcikova defeated Iga Swiatek

It’s been six years since Dubai saw a back-to-back champion. With no Krejcikova in the draw this year, we’ll be on for yet another change of hands for the Dubai Open trophy in 2024 as well. Read on for our 2024 Dubai Open tennis predictions.

Gosh, the top of women’s tennis is competitive at the moment. Rybakina has been a final-making machine, while Swiatek has been her usual dominant self in the Middle East. Gauff is still one of the form players of the last six months, and oh yeah… Australian Open winner Aryna Sabalenka returns to the Tour this week after a month off.

Our prediction that Sabalenka will win the Dubai Open is less based on her past performances here (there’s been little to write home about) and more based on her year so far. Simply put, she’s been a killer. The Australian Open was a clinic, with the Belarusian making it six Grand Slam semi-finals or better performances in a row.

Add to this the fact that Swiatek and Rybakina have just made deep runs, and Gauff has just shown cracks, and backing a rested Sabalenka to win in Dubai seems the obvious choice. While her main rivals will be struggling to get themselves court-ready in time after a tough fight in Doha, Sabalenka has been relaxing after Melbourne and will be hungry for more wins in Dubai.

Iga Swiatek to Lose Third Round @ 5.50 (9/2)

This bet is partly because surely Swiatek can’t keep winning all the time and partly because of who she’ll come up against in the third round. Chances are, Swiatek will face former world number three Elina Svitolina. The Ukrainian is a big-match player and a dangerous third-round opponent. She’s claimed plenty of top-10 scalps in the last few months, and with Swiatek coming off a full roster of matches in Doha, one could see her slipping up here quite easily.

Aryna Sabalenka vs Coco Gauff Final @ 7.00 (6/1)

With the above bet in mind, those who are after a nice lucrative bet but don’t want to wait around for in play betting, we say backing Dubai to have a Sabalenka vs Gauff final is the way to go.

Gauff stumbled last week with an early exit to Siniakova. However, outside of this, the 19-year-old has been as solid as they come. The American has made the semi-finals or better in all but one event she has played since Wimbledon, winning four titles. Before heading to Doha, she defended her Auckland title and made the Australian Open semi-finals for a record of 10-1 in 2024.

Expect Gauff to make a strong comeback from her early loss in Doha with a final run, where she comes up ever so short against a well-rested Sabalenka.

The WTA Tour steams along this week with yet another WTA 1000 event in Dubai. Plenty of women are in form and will be challenging for this title, but we say it will be Aryna Sabalenka who goes all the way and claims the trophy, pipping Coco Gauff. We picked the winner last week in Doha and reckon we’ve got this week all figured out as well.
