With both the ATP and WTA Tours competing in this Masters 1000 level event, who will take the bull by the horns and grab all the momentum heading into Paris later this month? Read on for our Italian Open 2024 predictions.
Italian Open 2024: Tennis Event Details
Very different situations exist for the men’s and women’s events this year. For the men, the ATP Tour’s brightest young stars – Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner – are both out with injury, while a host of other contenders also have injury clouds. For the women, it’s a full field with the big guns of Iga Swiatek, Elena Rybakina, and Aryna Sabalenka, all in fine form ahead of this tournament.
Can someone capitalize on the chaos of the men’s draw and bag their first ATP 1000 title? What about the WTA event: will Switek go back-to-back again heading into Roland-Garros? We break down the latest 2024 tennis Rome Masters odds to find out.

Understanding the Rome Masters Tennis Tournament
Before we get into our tennis Italian Masters betting tips, what makes this tournament so special? Two things: it’s a Masters 1000 event, which means that outside of the Grand Slams and year-end championships, this is as big as it gets in tennis. All the best players will be vying for a seven-figure payout and a big chunk of ranking points.
More notably though, the Rome Masters ends just a week before Roland-Garros begins. As the final of three clay Masters events, this is the one that players often target to build momentum heading into the year’s second Grand Slam.
Italian Open History & Court Specifics
The Italian Open is largely viewed as a clay event, which has conditions that are most similar to Roland-Garros. Court speeds are comparable, and it isn’t at altitude like Madrid. As a result, it has been dominated over the years by the kinds of players who go on to win Roland-Garros. In the past few decades, Rafael Nadal has claimed 10 titles in Rome, and Novak Djokovic six.

Looking for betting new sites for some interesting bet types? Then you’ve come to the right place because we’ve got all the latest 2024 tennis Rome Masters odds. Here’s who’s favored ahead of the men’s tournament starting this week:
Has there ever been a more one-sided set of odds heading into a Masters 1000 event? 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic is head and shoulders (and knees and toes) ahead of the rest of the competition, with odds of 2.87 (15/8). Odds then skyrocket to a whopping 11.00 (10/1) for the second favorite, Alexander Zverev. Monte-Carlo champion Stefanos Tsitsipas, Casper Ruud, and defending champion Daniil Medvedev are all close behind the German at 12.00 (11/1) and 13.00 (12/1), respectively.
Men’s Italian Open 2024 Predictions
The question on everyone’s mind is, of course, what the heck will happen in Rome with such skewed odds. Will Djokovic walk to victory? Thankfully, we’ve analyzed the betting odds for tennis and come up with the best two bets to make on the ATP event this week:
Novak Djokovic to Win @ 2.87 (15/8)
2 (100%)
0
OK, OK – it’s a cliche prediction, picking the enormous favorite. But hear us out because there’s some solid reasoning behind a bet on Djokovic to win the Rome Masters this month. The Serbian has a track record of being slow to get the gears turning on clay. He’s said it himself: it takes him a few events to get his fitness up to scratch and adjust from the hard courts of earlier in the year.
Djokovic’s focus this year is undeniably winning Grand Slams and the Olympics. However, being close to his best in Rome is a big part of that plan. He can’t afford to wait any longer, with Roland-Garros less than three weeks away and the Olympics coming up fast, too.
Historically, the numbers are there. The world number one plans his runs into the year’s second Grand Slam perfectly and has won the title in Rome an impressive six times, finalizing another six times as well. With a cleared-out field and glory in Paris on his mind, expect Djokovic to bring his best to Rome and lift a seventh title.
Holger Rune to Make the Final @ 10.00 (9/1)
0
(100%) 2
We’d be lying if we said any 2024 ATP Rome Masters predictions outside of Djokovic winning Rome were easy. However, we say that wagering on Holger Rune to have a good run is a wise move. The Dane has been his usual mercurial self this year, however, the signs are there since combining forces with old coach Patrick Mouratoglou.
The 21-year-old has made the quarter-finals of Indian Wells and Monte-Carlo in recent months, nabbing respectable wins over the likes of Grigor Dimitrov and Taylor Fritz. This time last year, he ran all the way to the final of Rome. With Daniil Medvedev the top seed in his quarter and under an injury cloud post-Madrid, we say there’s a good chance Rune goes deep again.

2024 WTA Rome Masters Odds
You’ve seen our men’s tennis Italian Masters betting tips, and now it’s time for the women’s draw. Here are the odds we’re using to inform our WTA Italian Open 2024 betting picks:
Whether you’re going down to the local bookie or doing VIP sports betting online, you’ll find one thing: Iga Swiatek is the heavy favorite in Rome. The Pole is a 2.00 (1/1) favorite, well ahead of beaten Madrid finalist Aryna Sabalenka and Stuttgart Open champion Elena Rybakina, who both sit on 6.00 (5/1). Coco Gauff is in the mix, too, at 9.00 (8/1) despite a quiet year so far, while Ons Jabeur rounds out the top five favorites in the 2024 tennis Rome Masters odds at 17.00 (16/1).

Elena Rybakina to Win @ 6.00 (5/1)
2 (100%)
0
Unlike the men’s event, we’re not backing the favorite to win this week’s WTA Rome tournament. While there’s no denying Iga Swiatek is running hot at the moment, it’s simply far too tough to win back-to-back WTA 1000-level events. The Pole will be eager to protect her conditioning ahead of Roland-Garros, and it would be no surprise to see her slightly below her best or even withdraw later in the tournament.
This opens up the draw to other contenders, and we say Elena Rybakina is a strong option. She fell in the Madrid semi-finals, so has had a few extra days of rest before Rome kicks off. The Kazakh’s form has been fantastic, defeating Swiatek in Stuttgart earlier in April, and only losing to Aryna Sabalenka by a whisker in Madrid. Given she won here this time last year, it would be no surprise if she went on to defend her title.
Elina Svitolina to Win @ 34.00 (33/1)
0
(100%) 2
Speaking of women who have had success here in the past, our dark horse prediction for those who want to bet on the 2024 Italian Open tennis is Elina Svitolina. The Ukrainian won the title in Rome back-to-back in 2017 and 2018. While that was a long time ago, Svitolina is still dangerous. Wins over the likes of Swiatek, Victoria Azarenka and Daria Kasatkina last year soon after returning from a long lay off as a mother proved this.
While Svitolina has been quiet since making the final of the ASB Classic in January, a strong run at one of her favorite tournaments shouldn’t be unexpected.
