2024 Cincinnati Open Betting Tips (ATP & WTA Predictions)

The final Grand Slam of the year is just around the corner, with the ATP and WTA Tours heading stateside this week for the Cincinnati Open in Ohio. With the tennis calendar charging straight from clay to grass and back to clay again, who will prevail on the hard courts of North America? Read on for our Cincinnati Open 2024 predictions.

Cincinnati Open 2024: Tennis Event Details

Cincinnati is a crucial tournament, given its proximity to the US Open, which is now less than a fortnight away. Both Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner will be jostling for momentum in the men’s draw, while Iga Swiatek is back for the women. She’ll have hot competition from the likes of Aryna Sabalenka, Coco Gauff, and Elena Rybakina if she is to put her Olympics disappointment behind her with a win this week. Can she prevail? We look at the latest 2024 tennis Cincinnati Masters odds to find out.

ℹ️ Tournament: ATP & WTA Tours (Masters 1000), 2024 Western & Southern Open
🎾 Venue: Lindner Family Tennis Center, Mason, Ohio, United States
🗓️ Dates: Monday, 12 August to Monday, 19 August 2024

Understanding the Cincinnati Open Tennis Tournament

Before diving into our tennis Cincinnati Masters betting tips, here is a little context. This week represents the seventh of nine ATP Masters tournaments for the men and the eighth of 10 WTA 1000s for the women.

Outside of Grand Slams and the year-end championships, this is as big as it gets. The tournament is played in a traditional one-week format, with a 56-player draw giving byes to the top eight seeds in the opening round. Big ranking points are on the line, with 1000 points for the winner.

Cincinnati Open History & Court Specifics

Cincinnati is traditionally quite a volatile tournament, with the last 10 years bringing seven different champions in the ATP event and nine for the WTA. This is because it is a transitory event for many players to the American hard court conditions, which play differently to clay and use different balls.

The courts in Cincinnati are faster than clay but not overly quick for hard courts. Expect this to favor those with strong defense.

Savvy tennis bettors will notice one glaring omission from these odds, compared to the US Open betting odds: no Novak Djokovic. This means that Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner are heavy favorites, with the pair neck-and-neck at 2.40 (7/5) and 3.10 (21/10), respectively.

Behind these two, there’s a big drop back to the third line of betting. This is held by world No 5 Daniil Medvedev, who pays 8.00 (7/1). Alexander Zverev isn’t far behind on 12.00 (11/1) before another big drop sees Sebastian Korda round out the top five betting favorites at 29.00 (28/1).

Men’s Cincinnati Open 2024 Predictions

Enough preamble; time for our 2024 ATP Cincinnati Open predictions. Here are the bets we recommend this week:

That’s right, we’re not going with either of the two heavy favorites this week. That’s partly because we genuinely believe Medvedev is going to have a breakout week in Cincinnati but also partly because the betting odds make this too good of a deal to turn away from.

Here are Medvedev’s credentials on hard courts:

  • 75.4% win rate
  • 19 Tour-level titles
  • Five Masters titles (2019 Cincinnati champion)
  • One Grand Slam
  • One year-end championships
  • 18-5 on hard in 2024

Sure, he’s not had the best season, and yes, his loss to Alejandro Davidovich Fokina last week was a shocker. But he’s still a brilliant hard-court player and is an excellent bet in Cincinnati on his hard court credentials alone. Throw in question marks over Alcaraz and Sinner, and Medvedev is an even better bet.

Alcaraz is making a sharp transition from the clay of Paris to the hard courts of Ohio. Time away from the game, travel, different surface, different balls–not a great recipe for success. Sinner, on the other hand, crashed out of the Canadian open with a concerning-looking hip complaint, an injury that sidelined him earlier in the season.

High-Odds Winner – Matteo Berrettini @ 67.00 (66/1)

If Medvedev doesn’t get the job done, then our other free tip for Cincinnati Masters 2024 tennis is to back Matteo Berrettini.

Yes, the Italian is yet to win a title on hard court, but no, we don’t think that matters. Berrettini seems more comfortable in his own skin having come back from injury this season, and is playing free flowing tennis.

He’s just bagged back-to-back titles and had a few weeks’ rest. With his big serve and ruthless forehand, odds of 67.00 (66/1) are looking tasty for Berrettini to make a deep run in Cincinnati.

Tennis betting sites in USA have the Cincinnati Open odds relatively even heading into this week. Iga Swiatek’s dominance is muted by the hard court, but bookies still put her as a 3.60 (13/5) favorite to win. The Pole is marginally ahead of Aryna Sabalenka at 4.75 (15/4), while Coco Gauff is in the mix as well, paying 6.50 (11/2).

Elena Rybakina has double the odds of Swiatek but is still competitive in the fourth line of betting at 7.50 (13/2). Recent Toronto champion Jessica Pegula enters the fray, too, but at longer odds of 11.00 (10/1).

Women’s Cincinnati Open 2024 Predictions

Want to bet on 2024 Cincinnati Open tennis? Then you’re in luck because we’ve got two red-hot tips:

Sabalenka to Win @ 4.75 (15/4)

Sabalenka to Win

She’s just too good not to. The stars are aligning perfectly. Any time that Sabalenka has had a quiet patch and gone too long without winning a title, she bursts back onto the scene with a big run to remind us how good she is. That’s exactly what we say is going to happen this week.

After a fast start to the year (final of Brisbane followed by Australian Open title), Sabalenka has cooled down. She’s yet to win a title since Melbourne, getting denied in back-to-back WTA 1000 finals by Swiatek and crashing out of the French Open in the quarter-finals.

However, it’s not like she’s been in terrible form. The past fortnight has seen Sabalenka make the semi-finals of Washington and the quarter-finals of Toronto. She’s there or thereabouts and has a big edge over some of her competitors, having missed the Olympics to adjust to the North American conditions.

We expect everything will click into place this week, and the Belarusian will claim her first title since January.

High-Odds Winner – Mirra Andreeva @ 51.00 (50/1)

Those who are after some juicer odds might want to look at teen sensation Mirra Andreeva. The Russian pays 51.00 (50/1) to win in Cincinnati.

But hold on, isn’t this the same Andreeva who just won a title in Romania? Yes. The one who defeated Aryna Sabalenka and made the French Open quarter-finals? Uh-huh. And is at a career-high of number 23 in the world, having been outside the top 50 at the start of the year? Sure is.

Andreeva is a rising star. On her day, she’s capable of beating the best. With odds of 51.00 (50/1), she’s as alluring as a dark horse bet can get in Cincinnati.

You’ve seen our Cincinnati Open 2024 predictions; now it’s your turn. Will one of the big favorites win this week, or can Medvedev rekindle his form on hard courts? What about Sabalenka, can she claim her first title in seven months? Or will a dark horse ruin it all and stun the field in Cincinnati? We’ve given our take–now it’s your turn to get betting.
