2024 Volleyball Women’s Nations League Odds & Favorites
Before looking at our women’s Nations League 2024 volleyball betting tips, let’s take a look at the 2024 FIVB Volleyball Women’s Nations League odds. Here are the current women’s volleyball odds for the tournament:
USA to Win @ @ 4.00 (3/1)
The most decorated team in VNL history, Team USA, is an automatic entry in the title conversation. Look out for Tokyo 2020 MVP Jordan Larson, a star name ready to lead the charge. Alongside her are other talented players like Jordan Thompson and Kathryn Plummer. Don’t forget Andrea Drews, who bagged MVP honors during the USA’s last VNL victory.
Last year’s fourth-place finish on home soil still stings the Team USA camp, but this year, they are fueled by determination to reclaim their rightful place at the top. With a powerhouse roster and a burning desire to win, they’ll undoubtedly be a force to be reckoned with.
Turkey to Win @ 5.00 (4/1)
Coach Daniele Santarelli’s team were consistent top-four finishers in the VNL, before finally clinching the title last year. Having tasted their first silverware, Turkey are hungrier than ever as they return to defend the crown.
Their secret weapon? Cuban-born opposite hitter Melissa Vargas, the MVP from Turkiye’s triumphant 2023 run. Alongside her, middle blocker Zehra Gunes, crowned best in her position at the 2022 Club World Championship, provides a formidable wall at the net. With a winning coach, a proven MVP, and a defensive powerhouse, this team is a serious contender for another VNL title. So, it’s no surprise that Volleyball Women’s Nations League 2024 betting odds are favoring them as one of the title contenders.
Italy to Win @ 6.00 (5/1)
Italy returns to the VNL with a familiar face – and a burning desire to reclaim their crown. In 2023, they fielded 11 players who tasted victory in the 2022 Ankara final, but the absence of one superstar proved crucial: Paola Egonu.
Head coach Julio Velasco will be thrilled to welcome back his star attacker. Egonu’s return injects a potent dose of firepower into the Italian squad, and with her back on the court, Italy has a serious shot at glory once again.
China to Win @ 7.00 (6/1)
China stormed to the final last year with back-to-back wins over Brazil and Poland. The Asian powerhouse, however, could not better a spirited Turkey side, who won the final by 3-1 after two close opening rounds.
Coach Bin Cai will be hoping to build on his team’s 2023 WVNL performance and grab the gold medal this year. Li Yingying, who was China’s standout performer in the 2023 final with 19 kills, a block, and ace returns to the side alongside the likes of Xinyue Yuan, Yuanyuan Wang, and Yunlu Wang, who had also impressed in the 2023 edition. Will their determination be enough to steer them to the title this time around? China’s performance is sure to be one to watch.
Brazil to Win @ 8.00 (7/1)
Three-time VNL runner-up Brazil sets its sights on gold, and veteran middle blocker Thaisa Menezes is a pillar of their strength. A two-time Olympic champion (Beijing 2008, London 2012), Thaisa is a legend in Brazilian volleyball.
Her 12-year reign (2007-2018) before going on a five-year national team hiatus was nothing short of remarkable. She boasts five FIVB World Grand Prix titles and two World Championship medals (a silver in 2010 and a bronze in 2014). With her experience and leadership, Thaisa will be instrumental in Brazil’s quest for VNL glory. Opponents, beware – this seasoned champion is back to dominate the hardwood.
Understanding the FIVB Women’s VNL
The FIVB Women’s Volleyball Nations League is an annual international volleyball tournament pitting the senior women’s national teams from member countries of the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB), the sport’s global governing body. The inaugural edition took place in May-July 2018, culminating in a thrilling final held in Nanjing, China, where the United States emerged victorious over Turkey.
The Volleyball Women’s Nations League currently features two distinct phases: the Pool Phase and the Finals.
Pool Phase
The initial Pool Phase undergoes the following plan:
- The competition kicks off with 16 teams split into two groups of eight.
- Throughout the three-week preliminary round, each team plays 12 matches.
- Two pools of eight compete in four matches across six competition days (Tuesday-Sunday). This format allows for a welcome one-week break between events.
Finals
The eight strongest teams will advance directly to the single-elimination knockout stage. This phase features eight exciting matches: four quarter-finals, followed by two semi-finals, culminating in the bronze and gold medal matches. In the Women’s VNL 2024, the hosts of the finals, Thailand, receive a direct ticket and will be looking for other seven teams to join them in June.

- 2018 – USA beat Turkey
- 2019 – USA beat Brazil
- 2021 – USA beat Brazil
- 2022 – Italy beat Brazil
- 2023 – Turkey beat China
Turkey and China played the 2023 edition final, which means it was guaranteed beforehand that there would be a new champion. The Turkish side won their first Nations League title in their second final appearance.
Still, all legal betting sites World Cup and those covering other international events, back the USA as the hot favorites this time, considering their incredible record in the tournament. They won the first three editions of the competition and finished third last year. Karch Kiraly, therefore, will be confident in his team’s title and credentials.
Women’s Nations League 2024 Volleyball Betting Tips
What are our predictions for the Women’s Volleyball Nations League this year? We looked at the form and squads of the participants. On top of that, we have scoured old and new bookmakers online to find the best 2024 FIVB Volleyball Women’s Nations League odds and deals. Here are the creme de la creme, as per our research:
Poland to Beat Italy @ 2.50 (6/4)
1 (50%)
(50%) 1
Italy enter the fray as one of the biggest contenders, but they face a stern test of their credentials in their opening matchup against Poland. The Italians are historically the favorites in this match, as they have won 68% of the total matches played between the two sides. Stefano Lavarini’s side, however, are no pushovers as they made it to the last four of the competition in 2023. Poland also won in their last two matches against Italy, so we will back them to pull off a three-peat against the 2022 champions.
Canada to Beat Brazil @ 4.00 (5/1)
2 (100%)
0
This is a pretty big call, as the Brazilians are the standout favorites going into this tie. They are at 1.15 to see off the Maple Leaves, but interestingly, they succumbed to a surprise defeat to the Canadians the last time they had played them.
Brazil will grace the hardwood for the first time since their 3-0 humiliation against the Dominican Republic, while Canada will look to follow up their clean sweep of the Czech Republic with another statement win. It still appears to be a risky call given the level of firepower Brazil have in their team, but we see value in betting on Canada to prevail in this one with a little sense to back Brazilians.
Serbia to Beat Dominican Republic @ 2.50 (6/4)
3 (100%)
0
Serbia and the Dominican Republic are set to lock horns in their Nations League opener. The Serbians have the upper hand in head-to-head stats, but the bookmakers are considering them the underdogs for this one.
The Dominicans are on a ten-match winning streak, while the Serbians were defeated in their last match against China. Therefore, it seems risky to back a Serbia win here. However, the new-looking Serbia team under Giovanni Guidetti can halt the Dominican momentum with their youthful lineup.
Recommended Women’s VNL 2024 Predictions
Heading into this tournament, we recommend betting on particular matchups rather than outright odds. After all, a lot could change in a one-month tournament. Italy and Poland are set to play out one of the most exciting matches in the tournament, but we expect the bragging rights to go to Poland. Canada will take the court against a formidable Brazilian unit, but they have shown that they can pack a punch that can get the better of the best.
