The Beach Pro Tour is recognized by the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball. There are three tiers of competitions (Future, Challenge, and Elite 16) before the finals. The World Tour began in 1989 for men and 1992 for women, running annually until 2021 when it was replaced by the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour.
Winning the Tour was a coveted prize in international beach volleyball, surpassed only by the World Championships and the Olympic Games. Brazilian teams historically dominated this prestigious tour.
Since Brazil’s dominance ended with Alison Cerutti and Bruno Oscar, Anders Mol and Christian Sørum have been able to rack up three titles in the last five editions.
Kristen Nuss and Taryn Kloth won the tournament last year, succeeding fellow Americans Kelly Cheng and Sara Hughes who won the finals in 2022.
