What Is a Grammy Award?
The Grammys is an annual event, the first of the “Big Three” networks’ major music awards, and widely known as one of the major American entertainment awards – alongside the Academy Awards, Emmy Awards, and the Tony Awards.
The first Grammy was held in 1959 and was held annually before the Grammys was overhauled in 2012 to add many new categories.
The idea behind the Grammys is very simple. The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS) members, media companies, and individuals nominate songs for consideration, which are reviewed by the industry experts who determine if the song can enter any of the categories. The eligible entrants then enter the voting stage, where voting members get to nominate the work into one of the categories. The five nominees who get the most votes become proper nominees, leading to the final voting stage.
The final voting ballots are sent to NARAS voting members, who may vote in general fields and up to 9 fields, but can also vote outside their field of expertise. After the votes are counted, the winners are announced at the Grammys.
The public needs insight into the voting process, and the voting members only know who they voted for, creating a fair environment for Grammy betting.
